GWF Saturday Night Special

Broadcast on 20th January 2001

Interview:
GWF Owner Dan Roberts welcomed the fans to the show
[The show goes live, and the cameras pan the crowd, with the GWF theme
playing over the P.A. and pyros going off]
JR: Hello everyone, I'm Jim Ross alongside Jerry "The King" Lawler, and we
are here to welcome you to a new era in sports entertainment! Tonight,
here on the USA Network, we present to you a special 3 hour show to
introduce you to the newest force in wrestling today, the Global Wrestling
    Federation!
JL: You're not kidding Ross. Some of the guys on the roster here are amazing,
and there are all sorts of styles that are going to be seen in that ring!
    I can't wait!
JR: Well right now, we have a special interview, so it's over to Scott Hudson
    in the ring!
SH: Thank you JR. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the man who
is responsible for the GWF, let me introduce to you MR. DAN ROBERTS!!!!!
[The crowd cheers as Roberts makes his way out to the ring and joins Hudson]
SH: Mr. Roberts, I understand you would like to address the fans
DR: That's right Scott. First off, let me welcome you all to the GWF, a new
breed of Federation, where the in-ring product comes first. Tonight, in
this very ring in Providence, Rhode Island, we begin the quest to find
out who will be the very first GWF World Heavyweight Champion! Every man
on the roster will have a chance to win the belt, as I have set up a 46
man tournament. In the first round there will be 22 singles matches, and
2 men will get byes. The second round will feature 8 triple threat matches
and then the semi-final will be two 4-men Round Robins, with the winners
of each group meeting for the GWF World Title!
SH: And that tournament starts tonight?
DR: Yes it does, in fact tonight you will see eight first round matches. Now,
moving on to the matter of the two byes. Now, for some unknown reason,
my son Christian has decided that he wants to be a GWF wrestler. I can't
stop him from doing this, but I don't want to see my son get hurt, so I
know that this will not be popular, but I have given him one of the byes.
Rest assured though that this is the only time I will ever help him in
his GWF career. The second bye will go to the former NCAA champion and
2000 Olympics Gold Medallist, Neil Johnson.
SH: So Christian and Johnson automatically go into the Triple Threat Stages?

DR: That is correct. In the coming weeks, we will decide the Tag Team
Champions, the Cruiserweight Champion and the North American Champion too,
but for now, please enjoy the show.
SH: Mr. Roberts, thank you for your time
DR: My pleasure.
SH: Now back to you JR.
JR: Thank you Scott. It's time for our first ever match in the GWF, and it is
a World Title Tournament Match pitting "The Young Lion" Simon Albarn
against La Muerte Roja, the Mexican star! Let's go to the ring!
GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:
Simon Albarn pinned La Muerte Roja with the Lionsault in 0:06:13.
Rating: *** 1/4
The first ever match in the GWF, and Simon Albarn came out victorious in a stellar
encounter against Mexican Luchador star La Muerte Roja. Albarn advances in the world
title tournament, and after this showing he could be the dark horse in this
tournament.
GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:
Rob Yorke pinned Mark Steele after a choke slam in 0:05:56.
Rating: -1/4*
Interview:
Jim Cornette introduced his new tag team
JR: I'll tell you something King, that Rob Yorke really is a machine, did you
    see that choke slam?!
JL: Yeah, Mark Steel.......hey, who's that in the ring Ross? Isn't it....
JR: It's Jim Cornette! What's he doing here?
JL: Well, I think we're about to find out....
JC: For those of you who don't know me, my name is James E. Cornette, more
commonly known as Jim Cornette. For those of you who do know me, you know
I tell it how it is and thats why I'm in the GWF. You see, over the years
I have managed some of the greats in this business: Bobby Eaton,
Owen Hart, Stan Lane, The British Bulldog, Vader, Robert Gibson, Ricky
Morton and Barry Windham, to name a few. But my newest find is possibly
my best ever. Ladies and gentlemen, I have found two men who combine to
form the best team I've ever seen, in fact they are so good that they
have inherited the name of one of the greatest teams ever. Ladies and
gentlemen, I give to you....... "Amazing" Allan Daniels and "Dynamic"
    Dan Masters.....THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS!!!
[The Midnight Express' music hits and out come two men, Daniels and Masters,
dressed in their blue trunks with yellow lightning forks down the side,
 ready for a match]
JC: And to show you what my men can do, I have set up a match right now, so
Future Shock, get out here and take what's coming to ya!
[Future Shock's music hits and they storm the ring, getting the match going]
The Midnight Express defeated Future Shock when Masters pinned Hannon after the
Spiked Neckbreaker in 0:11:24.
Rating: **
So, Jim Cornette is in the GWF, and he's brought the Midnight Express with him.
Not Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton though, but Dan Masters and Allan Daniels. The
two men worked well together with an impressive array of double team moves.
The young team of Future Shock put up a good fight, the Midnight Express took
the win after a belly-to-back suplex/reverse neckbreaker combo.
GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:
Matt Hawkes pinned Nikita Volkiev with the Mantrap in 0:06:36.
Rating: *** 1/4
GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:
Inferno pinned Ray Connor with the Inferno Drop in 0:05:26.
Rating: *** 1/2
Canadian Rage defeated The Fallen when Reed pinned Lucifer with the
Lightning Strike in 0:08:46.
Rating: *** 1/4
Interview:
Father Trinity introduced his Holy Army
JR: And that's it! Canadian Rage take the victory after that "Lightning Strike"
    scissor kick by Jason Reed!!!
JL: JR, look!!
A man runs down the aisle and jumps into the ring, leveling Reed from behind
JR: That's Thomas Grayson! What's he doing out here?!
Grayson drops Reed with a strange variation of a neckbreaker, as Damien and
Lucifer double-team Chris Hart, nailing him with a chair, as Father Trinity
takes the microphone
FT: What you see here is three men who believe in the word of the good lord.
Damien, Lucifer and Thomas Grayson, three men who will give their all to
the cause of restoring morality to wrestling. Three men who are willing
to die for the cause. These three men are my Holy Army, and rest assured,
we will save all your souls from eternal damnation. So it was written, so
it shall come to pass. Amen.
JR: What the hell? I'm not sure what he means, but these three men are
dangerous enough, who knows what they could be like with him guiding them!
Father Joseph Trinity is a mysterious man, but he seems to have some kind of power
over Damien and Lucifer, who kept looking to him for instruction throughout the
match. Canadian Rage managed to come out victorious in this one, but the post match
attack by The Fallen and Thomas Grayson showed that Trinity is serious in his mission.
What kind of plans does Trinity have in the GWF? We may find out in the weeks to come.
GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:
Toshiaki Tenzan pinned El Guerrero De La Luna with the Tiger Driver 91 in
0:09:09.

GWF World Title Tournament 1st Round:

Rating: * 3/4
Interview:
Paul Maloney talked about the GWF Title
JR: So Maelstrom has advanced into the Triple Threat stage of the tournament,
    where....
["Shooter" plays across the P.A. as Paul Maloney makes his way out, with
 Sarah Bearham]
JR: That's Paul Maloney! He's the TWF Champion, what the hell is he doing
    here!
JL: This is shocking Ross! The Shooter is here tonight!!
[Maloney steps into the ring, with TWF Title over his shoulder and Sarah
 behind him]
PM: I know that you all know who I am. I know you must all be thinking "What
the hell is he doing here?" I'll tell you why I'm here. I have been the
TWF World Heavyweight Champion for over a year now, and no-one has come
close to beating me. In short, everyone there plain sucked. Even my old
friend Simon Fuller is in the GWF now, but the jerk seems to be playing
to you idiots. At least he's using his real name now. So, I am officially
declaring that I am vacating the TWF Title as of now, and I will no
longer wrestle under the TWF Banner.
[The crowd is stunned at this announcement]
PM: So what am I doing here? [Glances at Sarah and smiles]. Sarah, why don't
    you tell them.
SB: Paul is without a doubt the best wrestler ever, and there is no-one who
can beat him. So when I went to see Dan Roberts this morning, he jumped
at the chance to have Paul on the roster. In fact, Paul is in the GWF
World Title Tournament. This Monday, on the first ever edition of GWF
Monday Night Massacre, Paul will face someone by the name of Jay Reeve,
or Jason Reed or something like that anyway. And you will all see first
hand what the Shooter can do
PM: I am here for one reason and one reason only. To be the GWF World
Heavyweight Champion, and there is no-one who can stop me. The only
person good enough to beat me is me!! So, starting with Jason Reed on
Monday, the GWF is about to feel the presence of the greatest wrestler
in the world, "The Shooter" Paul Maloney. Get ready for a whole new
    kind of pain.
[Maloney throws down the mic and walks away with Sarah]
JR: Oh my god!! Paul Maloney is in the GWF! What a shocker!!
[Show cuts to commercial]
The entire arena was shocked by the appearance of TWF Champion Paul Maloney.
"The Shooter" and his girlfriend Sarah Bearham made a statement here tonight,
and he will make his GWF debut this Monday against Jason Reed of Canadian Rage
in the World Title Tournament.

In the first ever GWF Main Event, Masato Nagata faced "The Master Of The Suplex"
Steven Crowe in the World Title Tournament. It was an excellent match, and a
superb way to cap off the special, but it ended when Nagata missed a lariat and
Crowe hooked him up and then drilled him with the Half Nelson Suplex, dropping
him right on his head and getting the three count.
